Do I need previous experience to take a class?
Beginners: You should have a strong interest in fashion. No previous experience required
Intermediate: You should have completed Beginners level course or have some previous experience in the subject
Advanced: The classes are designed for learners who have progressed through all previous levels

What are the technical requirements?

● Learner must have a working email address that they regularly check

What is e-learning?
E-learning is the delivery of learning and training by electronic means.

What is an e-Course?
E-course is an online class/instructions delivered over time delivered virtually, and can be ‘Instructor-led.

Will I need a sewing machine, tools, and equipment?
It is assumed that you have your own domestic/industrial sewing machine. You will also need specialist equipment to progress with a course (see resources above)

What level of expertise do your lecturers have?
Learners receive expert training from fashion educators who combine teaching, within a career in the fashion industry.

What does ‘instructor-led’ mean?
‘Instructor-led’ means there is an instructor in the course who is available to answer any questions or concerns.

How long do I have to complete the online fashion course?
Each online course has a suggested completion time, i.e. 7 weeks, 12 months. You study at your own pace.

Is this cost per online course/workshop?
Yes. Each course/workshop is priced individually.

Is there a lecturer available to answer questions?
Yes. Lecturers are available to answer questions inside your member’s area.

What does ‘self-paced’ mean?
‘Self-paced’ means you go at your own pace.

How many hours will it take to complete a course?
Everybody works at a different pace; the online courses vary in the time it takes for individuals to complete each module/course.

When does the online course start and end?
Your online course starts when you are ready. Accessible 24/7/365 once you have registered.

Can I email the lecturer my questions?
Yes, you can contact your lecturer by logging into your account.

Are there any additional costs?
Yes, specialist equipment, these are an investment, it can last you years (see fashion design tools above)

Is the site secure? In addition, is my information safe?
Yes, all financial information is securely encrypted during transmission and securely stored. All transmissions of sensitive information are encrypted using HTTPS and an SSL (Secured Sockets Layer).

Cancel and Refund Policy
1st Class Patterns does not provide refunds for purchased content in 1st Class Patterns: Membership subscription, online courses or digital block patterns regardless of any claimed circumstances. You cannot cancel a single-user course license once you purchase it or earlier than the term to which you originally committed. A single-user subscription license lasts the duration stated on the sign-up page. Membership is auto-renewed until you cancel your membership to 1st Class Patterns. You will not receive any partial credit if you cancel any 1st Class Patterns license before its term ends.
